• Kelly Brandner is a seasoned PR practitioner bringing more than 20 years of experience strengthening brands through programs that shape and share relevant stories with target audiences. With a successful track record of meeting business goals for start-ups to Fortune 500 companies such as Ascent Solar, Cozi, MCI, Motorola, and Sprint, Brandner joins the company to support growing business as an account manager.

• Jeny Dowlin comes to Interprose as a graphic designer with over 20 years of marketing communications experience and a background in connecting branding strategies with creative visuals that support overall business objectives. Her diverse background includes working with com, SBC Global, and the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel.

• Henry Richardson brings rich experience in data analysis to Interprose having worked on accounts such as Cisco, Microsoft, and Time Warner. As a marketing data analyst he provides “deep dive” analytics into marketing campaigns and promotional programs, as well as database analysis and development.

What is freedom?

Is freedom a sonnet calling upon nations of the world to “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”? Is it an altruistic, shining ideal that has bravely withstood the test of time and trial? Or has freedom become a faded notion, worn thin by the vagaries of time and man?

As America gets ready to celebrate its July 4^th holiday in its own inimitable style – brass bands tootling away at Sousa marches, parades festooned with red-white-and-blue floats, fireworks, and comical Uncle Sam stilt-walkers – it’s time to revisit the concept of “freedom”. Freedom isn’t just a set of bullet points laid out on dusty parchment paper by America’s forefathers, a patriotic day of national pride, or the right to say what you wish, believe what you want, or to go where you will.

What freedom – and its twin sibling, Liberty – truly is is opportunity. The chance to chase a dream or to see a challenge and then find a way to overcome it. At its heart, freedom is about innovation. It’s about having the ability to make a change for the better, to find a new way of doing things for the benefit of you, others, and the world at large. It is the right to try, fail, and then try again, for as many times as it takes to get it right.

Without having the liberty to pursue radical, silly, or even dangerous ideas, we wouldn’t have some of the technology innovations that are an indelible part of the fabric of our world. How might our lives be forever changed had not our scientists, poets, engineers, musicians, mathematicians, philosophers, and yes, even politicians, not been allowed to think freely, and to take the actions required to bring about disruptive change?

Freedom is the opportunity to dream big, to make mistakes, and to combine inspiration and perspiration, thereby creating something truly grand and wonderful in the process. Maybe necessity isn’t the mother of invention after all; maybe freedom is.

Freedom remains a cherished, yet unattainable ideal for millions around the world. So as America prepares for its annual Independence Day bacchanalia of parades, flags, balloons, and backyard barbeques, we wish you a very happy Fourth of July and urge you to never, ever take your freedom for granted.

Memorial Day. For those of us in America, it’s the holiday that marks the gateway to summertime – a season of lazy days at the shore, backyard barbecues, and road trips to visit the world’s largest ball of twine or maybe the Mystery Spot, a three-day weekend providing welcome respite from the rigors of our hectic work-a-day lives.

With so much fun to be had, it can be easy to forget the solemn origins of this holiday that has been with us since the 1800’s. Memorial Day should be a time of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude. It is a time to pause and offer our thanks to those who give their time – and in many cases, their lives – so that We The People can enjoy the freedoms that have been paid for by the sacrifices of our military men and women, and their families.

A cynical public sometimes questions using “hero” to describe soldiers, yet safeguarding our freedom is a vast responsibility that armed forces personnel around the world willingly shoulder on our behalf. Shouldn’t that alone warrant the use of the term “hero”? As noted by U.S. Air Force Colonel Walter Hitchcock, “Freedom is not free”.

No matter what your view, the time is right to recognize these honorable sacrifices. In honor of the Memorial Day holiday, Interprose offers its thanks and best wishes to veterans, armed forces personnel, and military families everywhere for their service and sacrifice.
